Bra inserts for uneven breasts

Some difference between the two sides is the rule rather than the exception, and for most people it is enough to notice in a fitted top. The fix is not a special bra. It is asymmetry in what you put inside it.

Start by accepting the asymmetry

Bras are sold in matched pairs of cups, so the standard approach is to buy for the larger side and let the smaller one float, or buy for the smaller side and squash the larger one. Both are uncomfortable and neither looks even.

Inserts break that constraint, because there is no rule that says you have to wear two of the same.

The three ways to do it

• One insert, smaller side only. The simplest fix, and the right one when the difference is about a cup size. Every pair we sell can be split.
• Two different sizes. When you want lift on both sides but still need to close a gap — a larger size on the smaller side, a size down on the fuller one.
• Two different shapes. When the difference is in shape rather than volume. A Sweetheart on one side pushes inward for a centre line; a Sculpt Lite on the other shapes without adding size.

Which side to fit the garment to

Always the larger one. A bra, a bodysuit or a dress that fits the smaller side will flatten and spill on the fuller side, and nothing you add underneath will fix a garment that is too small. Fit for the larger side, then fill the gap on the other with an insert.

Placement

On the smaller side, place the insert lower than you would if you were wearing a matched pair — the extra lift is what closes the visual gap at the top of the cup, which is where the eye lands. Bottom edge against the underside first, then press upward and inward, ten seconds.

Check in a mirror standing up, then sitting down. Most asymmetry looks solved standing and reappears seated, because the fuller side settles more.

Buying two sizes

If you need two different sizes, order two pairs and keep the spares — you end up with a matched set of each for the days you want a different look. If that feels wasteful, write to us with both sizes before you order and we will tell you honestly whether one pair split between the sides will do the job.

Getting the sizes right

Insert size follows cup volume, not the letter on your bra, so measure both sides separately and translate each one with the size guide. Take the true size for each. Going up does not add lift — it adds an edge that shows through fabric, and on the smaller side that edge is exactly what you are trying to hide.
